A cosy interior space for a rainy day

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

Hi there! Posting from a very rainy London today, which immediately makes me want to withdraw inside with a nice cup of tea and some cool coffee table books. I'm thinking this beautiful space from the Norwegian home of Line from  Vintage Piken would be the perfect place to be this Tuesday morning. I've shown more of this beautiful space here - but you can never see enough of her home right?!

Vintage Piken
I love her style - the vignettes, the beautiful furniture, the photography. Perfect! And I want that cup! What about you?

BLACK SHEEP (WHITE LIGHT) sell the most amazing grey icelandic sheepskin pillows. They're often getting new items in so it's worth following them on Facebook to keep an eye on what's available. Top of my Christmas wish list!

Have a lovely Tuesday!

Rustic / industrial Danish restaurant Höst

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

It's my husband's birthday next week so I've been doing some planning. Since he loves eating out, at least part of his present should be visiting a new restaurant. And with Copenhagen just over the Öresund bridge how could the the rustic / industrial Scandinavian restaurant Höst not be top of the list?! If you love interior blogs you'll have seen images of this before. But honestly? Höst was completed last year after a collaboration with the fab Norm Architects team (remember this monochrome home last week?!) and Danish designers Menu for Cofoco. And word on the street is that the food is equally sublime.

Table for two please. And it's more for him........honest :)

PS I hope he doesn't read today's post!

The pretty Danish home of Tine K

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Gooood morning! I often feel Danish interiors have a  distinct style; simple, clean but with the perfect hint of relaxed bohemian. This is the pretty home of Tine K of Tine K Home in Funen, Denmark which she shares with her husband and three children. Built in 1834, the house was photographed by Jenny of Black Balloon shop and blog.  I love the way Tine has decorated her home with rustic wood furniture against the white, soft grey hues and sharp contrasts of black.

Jenny of Black Balloon
I am postively drooling over the rustic dining table and stools! Could you imagine this home all decked out for Christmas?! Hint hint Tine K! :)

I'm having a luxury morning in a cosy café around the corner from my home with my laptop and a latte machiatto. Now that's what work should be like! What are you up to today?

(If you haven't made plans yet - don't forget to enter my exciting give-away!).

Have a lovely Thursday!

A charming rustic farmhouse in Skåne

Friday, November 2, 2012

If it's Scandinavian rustic charm you're after this incredible four sided 'Skånegård' (a traditional Skåne house that sits around a cobbled inner courtyard) this home is IT! Dating back to the 1700s, owners Gunilla and Sven Montan have painstakingly restored this farm house to its former glory. The half-timber structure, stone floors, whitewashed walls and carefully selected furniture work together to create a truly stunning home.

Magdalena Björnsdotter for LantLiv

Wow! This is the second time time in the past few weeks I have completely fallen in love with a Skåne home. The first was here. There must be something in the Southern Sweden air! What do you think?

Before I love you to have a FAB weekend I'd like to say a big 'hej' to all lovely new My Scandinavian Home readers! If you've got the time I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas and if you have a blog we can all visit!

I'm also on Pinterest (way to much) and Facebook....see you there? :)

Trevlig helg!

A pretty Toronto home

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

I was leisurely scrolling through all my favourite blogs - trust me this takes a long time - and I came across this beautiful apartment on 79 ideas. It's the Toronto home of Nikole Herriott, 50% owner of the father-daughter company Herriott Grace, featured in Covet Garden. Hand on heart - this is my idea of the perfect apartment - light, white with a touch of history and individuality. The dining table is what I've been looking for the past 3 years too.

A cool white and rustic retreat on Mykonos

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

With rain and more rain in Sweden and England this summer I think it's time to pack the bags and head to Mykonos, Greece (dreaming of course).  This peaceful, rustic holiday home decorated using cool white and local raw materials could just about be the perfect retreat. Oh so beautiful, thank you 79 ideas for the tip!

Back to planet earth, and London. On Monday night I went to the launch party of The Tanks at Tate Modern. I'm still recovering from the great party! The Tanks open to the public today with an exciting art in action summer programme, although just experiencing the awesome industrial-concrete chambers is worth a visit in itself!

Have a fab week and see you Friday!

A pretty, rustic, minimalistic hotel on Gotland

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Ever romanticised of owning a B&B on a beautiful island somewhere? Me? Always! Today I'm dreaming of owning Hotell Magazinet which is now for sale on the wonderful Swedish east coast island of Gotland. Decorated in beautiful rustic, minimal style with orginal floorboards and pillars restored from the days when it was a flour warehouse and then a grain depot in WWII, it's already for you to move in and start receiving guests!

Fantastic Frank
Incidentally, Gotland is a fantastic place to go on holiday. Lots of very trendy and arty Swedes flock there each summer. Some of the summer cottages available to rent are just beautiful. Well worth an internet search!

Hej heeej.
